    Child of the Stones - Commitment to a Tradition and a Lifestyle

    A Child of the Stones is someone who worships the Orishas - divinities who comprise the pantheon of Yoruba gods. This tradition is one of the oldest known to man and has adherents around the world.

    Kalila Borghini was initiated as a Priest of Obatala (one of the Orishas) on April 28, 2001. As a Child of the Stones, she is committed to uphold the tenets and follow the practices of the Yoruba faith.

    Key among those tenents are:

    ~ dedication to developing Iwa Pele (the Yoruba expression for Good Character);

    ~ veneration of the ancestors (whom we call Egun);

    ~ recognition of the importance of offerings (which we call Ebo);

    ~ belief in reincarnation;

    ~ belief in divination; and

    ~ a commitment to serving others.

    As part of her original Ita (life reading) when she was initiated, the Orishas said that they wanted her to combine her training, skills and experience as a Psychotherapist with those qualities she is devoted to as a believer in the Yoruba faith. The work described in this website is the result of her efforts to do as Orisha asked.

    She gives humble thanks to her Godmother Iya Barbara Bey (Ogunrelekun, Ibaye) and to all of those who continue to support her in this process.
